Yanara Secures FDRE PPA with NHPC for 350 MW Hybrid Renewable Project

Aug 27, 2025

Yanara (formerly BrightNight APAC) has signed a firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) power purchase agreement with NHPC to supply committed peak power from its 350+ MW hybrid project in Rajasthan. The project integrates solar, wind, and battery storage and will deliver power through the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS).

The company won 120 MW capacity at Rs4.55/kWh under NHPC’s FDRE auction, which aimed to procure 1.5 GW of peak renewable power from storage-backed projects across India. This marks a significant step in strengthening grid stability and reliability, ensuring that renewable power can be delivered on-demand during peak hours.

Yanara highlighted that this project will play a vital role in India’s clean energy transition, supporting grid modernization, decarbonisation, and meeting the country’s rising electricity demand. The company has several other large-scale projects in the pipeline.

In April 2025, Yanara also signed a PPA with NTPC for 110 MWac FDRE, while in February 2025 it entered into an MoU with the Madhya Pradesh government at the Global Investors Summit to invest $1.2 billion in renewable energy. The plan includes developing up to 1,200 MW of solar, wind, and storage projects over the next five years to strengthen the state’s renewable capacity.
