Sungrow Ships 160 MW Electrolysers for ACME’s Green Ammonia Project in Oman

First phase targets 100,000 tonnes annual output, with commissioning planned by end-2026. Sungrow Hydrogen, a subsidiary of Sungrow, has shipped 160 MW of alkaline electrolysers for a green ammonia project being developed by ACME Group in Oman.
The delivery marks a key milestone for the project located in Duqm, which aims to strengthen the country’s position in the green hydrogen and ammonia sector. The shipment follows a supply agreement signed in early 2025, covering multiple hydrogen production units and integrated green hydrogen systems.
In its first phase, the project is expected to produce around 100,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually—equivalent to roughly 300 tonnes per day—with commissioning targeted by the end of 2026. Development work is already well advanced, with engineering finalised, key licenses secured, electrolysers procured, and major civil infrastructure, including pipelines, largely completed.
To support project viability, ACME has secured a long-term offtake agreement with Yara International, ensuring demand for the ammonia output. The project has also received financial backing from REC Limited.
Looking ahead, the multi-phase development has the potential to scale significantly, targeting up to 1.2 million tonnes of green ammonia production annually. This expansion would be supported by approximately 3.5 GW of electrolyser capacity and 5.5 GWp of solar power.
Further phases are being developed under agreements with Hydrogen Oman and Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, covering large project areas and additional production capacity.
The project aligns with Oman’s broader strategy to become a major global hub for green hydrogen. With multiple projects underway across regions such as Al Wusta and Dhofar, the country is targeting significant investments and aiming to produce up to 1.5 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030, powered by large-scale renewable energy capacity.
