ZFI and Waaree Partner for 2.5 MW Green Hydrogen Project in Uttar Pradesh, Sign MoU for 50 MW Electrolyzer Deployment

Feb 25, 2026

Zero Footprint Industries Ltd (ZFI) has entered into an Electrolyzer-as-a-Service (EAAS) agreement with Waaree Clean Energy Solutions Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Waaree Energies Limited. The agreement covers the deployment of a 2.5 MW alkaline electrolyzer to support ZFI’s green hydrogen capacity expansion in Uttar Pradesh. In addition, the companies have signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate the supply of 50 MW of electrolyzers under the EAAS model for multiple decentralized green hydrogen projects across Northern India.

This collaboration marks a significant advancement in strengthening the green hydrogen ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh and accelerating India’s broader clean energy transition.

Under the agreement, Waaree Clean Energy Solutions will design, manufacture, install, commission, own, and operate the 2.5 MW alkaline electrolyzer system. The equipment will be produced at the company’s Dungri facility in Gujarat. Through a 15-year long-term contract, Waaree will supply green hydrogen and oxygen to ZFI for its expansion plans in Uttar Pradesh.

The project is expected to generate approximately 41 lakh Nm³ of green hydrogen and 20 lakh Nm³ of green oxygen annually. The output will primarily cater to industries such as mentha oil, chemicals, steel, and pharmaceuticals, enabling customers to transition from grey hydrogen to green hydrogen in a cost-effective manner and supporting India’s net-zero ambitions.

Key Highlights of the Agreement:

Technology: Established alkaline electrolyzer stacks designed for continuous industrial operations

Initial Capacity: 500 m³ per hour, with scalability up to 10,000 m³ per hour across multiple locations over the next five years

Application: Renewable energy-powered green hydrogen production aimed at decarbonizing process industries and inland transportation, including road, rail, and waterways

Project Timeline: Fast-track execution with an estimated completion period of around seven months. Stack delivery is planned for the second quarter of FY 2026–27, with commercial operations targeted for the third quarter of the same fiscal year

Anuj Sharma, CEO – Hydrogen Business at Waaree, stated that the EAAS partnership demonstrates the company’s advanced alkaline electrolyzer technology and strong operations and maintenance expertise, enabling rapid and efficient deployment of decentralized green hydrogen solutions.

ZFI emphasized that the partnership aligns with its commitment to delivering reliable, economical, and sustainable green hydrogen solutions to industrial customers. The company aims to establish multiple decentralized plants with a cumulative capacity of approximately 10,000 m³ per hour in the shortest possible timeframe, contributing meaningfully to industrial decarbonization and India’s energy transition journey.
