Rajasthan Energy Department Partners with ACPET/IFRE to Drive People-Focused Clean Energy Transition

Feb 17, 2026

The Energy Department, Government of Rajasthan, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ashoka Centre for a People-Centric Energy Transition (ACPET) through the International Foundation for Research and Education (IFRE). This partnership aims to advance research-driven, people-focused initiatives for a sustainable clean energy transition in the state.

The MoU ceremony was chaired by Ajitabh Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy), and attended by senior officials including Rohit Gupta, CMD of Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation (RRECL). The agreement was signed on behalf of the government by Sourabh Swami, Joint Secretary of the Energy Department, while ACPET was represented by Vaibhav Chowdhary, Director, and Gaurav Bhatiani, Professor.

Under this collaboration, both institutions will jointly focus on:

  • Time-of-Day (ToD) Tariffs: Designing and promoting mechanisms to encourage efficient energy consumption.
  • Demand-Side Management: Implementing strategies and pilot initiatives to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
  • Energy-SIP and Storage Initiatives: Driving capacity-building, research, and outreach programs to accelerate clean energy adoption.

Through this partnership, Rajasthan aims to strengthen its people-centric approach to energy transition, fostering both innovation and sustainable practices in the state’s clean energy sector.
