Tata Power Energises Greater Noida with New 400/220 kV Transmission Substation

Jan 10, 2026

Tata Power has commissioned a major 400/220 kV Metro Depot substation along with its associated transmission lines, significantly strengthening the power infrastructure serving Greater Noida and the wider National Capital Region (NCR).

The newly operational transmission asset adds 1,000 MVA of transformation capacity, addressing the region’s steadily rising electricity demand driven by urban expansion and industrial growth. Beyond meeting local requirements, excess capacity from the system will also be injected into the Northern Grid, enhancing power reliability across neighboring northern states.

The intra-state transmission network has been developed through TP Jalpura Khurja Transmission Limited (TPJKPTL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power. The commissioning represents the first major operational achievement under the Jalpura–Khurja Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) transmission project.

With this latest addition, Tata Power’s transmission portfolio now extends to 7,047 circuit kilometres of lines that are either operational or under construction across the country, reinforcing the company’s role as a leading participant in India’s power transmission landscape.
