ACME Solar Secures 25-Year SECI Agreement for 300 MW ISTS Wind-Solar Hybrid Project

ACME Solar Holdings has signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for the supply of electricity from a 300 MW Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project. The agreement has been executed through the company's subsidiary, ACME Renewtech Fifth, further strengthening ACME Solar's long-term contracted renewable energy portfolio and reinforcing its position in India's fast-growing hybrid power segment.

The project will leverage ACME Solar's already secured ISTS connectivity and will be developed across locations with high solar irradiation and strong wind resources to optimise power generation throughout the year. Under the terms of the agreement, the company will maintain a minimum annual Capacity Utilisation Factor (CUF) of 30 percent, reflecting the improved generation profile achieved by combining solar and wind resources. The tariff for the project has already received approval from the relevant central and state regulatory authorities, providing long-term revenue visibility for the developer.

With the signing of this agreement, ACME Solar's PPA-backed renewable energy portfolio has increased to 6,870 MW out of its total contracted capacity of 8,070 MW. The company currently operates a diversified clean energy portfolio comprising solar, wind, hybrid, Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE), and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. Of the contracted capacity, around 2,990 MW is operational, while 5,080 MW is under various stages of construction, highlighting the company's aggressive expansion strategy in India's renewable energy market.

In addition to its generation assets, ACME Solar has secured approximately 3.62 GWh of battery energy storage capacity, positioning itself to address the growing demand for reliable and dispatchable renewable power. As India's power system integrates increasing volumes of variable renewable energy, hybrid projects coupled with energy storage are expected to play a crucial role in improving grid stability, reducing renewable energy curtailment, and ensuring round-the-clock clean power availability.

Wind-solar hybrid projects are becoming an increasingly important component of India's renewable energy strategy because they combine complementary generation profiles, enabling higher utilisation of transmission infrastructure and delivering more consistent power output than standalone solar or wind plants. ISTS-connected projects also benefit from access to the national transmission network, allowing electricity generated in high-resource states to be supplied efficiently to demand centres across the country.

The latest PPA further strengthens ACME Solar's long-term growth pipeline while supporting India's broader clean energy objectives. The government has been actively promoting hybrid renewable energy projects through competitive bidding by SECI to maximise renewable energy generation, optimise transmission assets, and facilitate the country's target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based installed electricity capacity by 2030. As investments in hybrid and storage-integrated renewable projects continue to accelerate, agreements such as this are expected to play a significant role in enhancing energy security, improving grid flexibility, and accelerating India's transition towards a low-carbon power sector.
