Adani Power Raises Capacity Goal to 41.87 GW, Commits Rs 2 Lakh Crore Investment
Dec 26, 2025
Adani Power has significantly increased its long-term installed capacity target to 41.87 gigawatt (GW) by FY32 and committed capital expenditure of around Rs 2 lakh crore, marking one of the most ambitious private-sector expansion programmes in India’s thermal power segment.
According to sources, the company’s expanded investment plan is aimed at supporting India’s sustained rise in electricity demand over the coming decades.
The revised capacity target represents a substantial step-up from Adani Power’s earlier plan to reach 30.67 GW by FY30. The company currently operates 18.15 GW of generation capacity, implying an additional 23.72 GW of new capacity in the development pipeline.
Sources said the entire expansion programme is fully secured, with land already in possession and key equipment orders placed. The planned addition of 23.72 GW positions Adani Power as the largest private-sector investor in thermal generation capacity over the medium term.
The company is expected to invest approximately Rs 2 lakh crore (about $22 billion) through FY32, making it the biggest capital expenditure commitment by a private thermal power producer in the country, the sources added.
The aggressive expansion underscores Adani Power’s strategy to play a central role in meeting India’s growing power requirements as demand from industry, infrastructure, and urban consumption continues to rise.
