Adani Power Secures LoA from MSEDCL for 1,600 MW Long-Term Supply Contract
Mar 17, 2026
Adani Power Limited (APL) has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for the supply of 1,600 MW of electricity from one of its upcoming ultra-supercritical thermal power projects.
The award follows a competitive bidding process in which APL emerged as the lowest bidder, quoting a tariff of Rs 5.30 per kWh. The power supply will be governed by a proposed 25-year Power Supply Agreement (PSA), with deliveries expected to begin from FY2030-31.
This development comes amid renewed investment momentum in India’s thermal power sector. With this win, Adani Power continues to strengthen its position as a key contributor to new generation capacity, aligned with the country’s broader goal of expanding thermal power capacity significantly by 2032.
Commenting on the development, S. B. Khyalia stated that rising electricity demand in India underscores the importance of adding reliable, long-term baseload capacity. He noted that the LoA reflects the company’s competitive cost structure and its ability to deliver dependable power solutions to support growing energy needs.
With this contract, Adani Power has now secured long-term PSAs for approximately 13.3 GW out of its 23.8 GW under-development pipeline. Additionally, over 95% of its existing operational capacity of 18.15 GW is tied to medium- and long-term agreements, while more than half of its upcoming capacity is already backed by long-term contracts, ensuring strong revenue visibility and operational stability.
