Adani Power Subsidiary Secures 558 MW Supply Deal from Tamil Nadu Utility

Feb 24, 2026

Moxie Power Generation receives a five-year Letter of Award from Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation, strengthening contracted capacity coverage to over 95 percent. Adani Power has announced that its subsidiary, Moxie Power Generation (MPGL), has been awarded a Letter of Award (LoA) by Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation (TNPDCL) for the supply of 558 MW (net) of electricity over a five-year period.

MPGL operates a 1,200 MW (2x600 MW) thermal power plant in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. The company secured the contract after emerging as the lowest bidder in a competitive tender, quoting a tariff of Rs5.910 per unit. Power supply under the agreement is scheduled to commence from April 1, 2026. With this development, both generating units at the plant are now backed by power supply agreements, taking Adani Power’s contracted operational capacity to more than 95 percent under medium- to long-term arrangements. This enhances revenue predictability and reduces exposure to short-term market fluctuations. The company has indicated that it is targeting close to 100 percent power purchase agreement (PPA) coverage for all operational and upcoming plants in the coming years.

The agreement is expected to strengthen Tamil Nadu’s power availability by adding 558 MW of dependable supply, contributing to improved grid stability and uninterrupted electricity for residential, commercial, and industrial consumers. Securing power at a competitive tariff is also anticipated to support affordable and reliable energy access across the state.
