Advait Launches 30 MW Alkaline Electrolyzer Assembly Unit in Gujarat, Plans Expansion to 1 GW
Mar 14, 2026
Advait Greenergy, a subsidiary of Advait Energy Transitions, has inaugurated a 30 MW alkaline electrolyzer assembly facility in Mehsana, Gujarat.
The new facility has been designed as a scalable manufacturing platform. While it begins operations with an annual electrolyzer manufacturing capacity of 30 MW, the company plans to expand this capacity to 100 MW by 2027 and ultimately scale it up to 1 GW in the future.
The phased expansion strategy is intended to support the anticipated rise in demand for green hydrogen across several industrial sectors, including fertilizers, oil refining, steel production, and heavy transportation.
Advait Greenergy has also been selected under the production-linked incentive (PLI) program implemented by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for electrolyzer manufacturing capacity of 300 MW, along with participation in a 100 MW green hydrogen project component.
In addition to its hydrogen initiatives, the company currently has over 400 MWh of battery energy storage projects under construction. It is also developing a 2.5 GWh battery storage manufacturing facility, which is expected to become operational in 2026.
Earlier, in August 2024, Advait Energy Transitions—then known as Advait Infratech—was among the successful bidders in SECI’s auction to establish 1.5 GW of electrolyzer manufacturing capacity across India, securing 200 MW under the Bucket 1 category. The company also won another allocation of 100 MW in a similar auction round, receiving an incentive allocation of Rs 1.48 billion.
The development aligns with the objectives of the National Green Hydrogen Mission approved by the Union Cabinet in 2023. The initiative aims to promote the production, utilization, and export of green hydrogen, with an initial financial outlay of Rs 197.44 billion.
A major portion of this funding—Rs 174.9 billion—has been allocated to the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) program. Under this scheme, financial incentives are provided both for domestic electrolyzer manufacturing and for the production of green hydrogen.
The mission aims to establish a green hydrogen production capacity of 5 million tons annually by 2030, supported by approximately 125 GW of additional renewable energy capacity. To achieve this goal, India is expected to install between 60 GW and 100 GW of electrolyzer capacity over the coming years.
