Agastya Energy Announces Rs 7,000 Crore Investment for 10 GW Solar Manufacturing Hub in Andhra Pradesh
Agastya Energy Industries Pvt. Ltd. has revealed its ambitious plan to set up an integrated 10 GW solar manufacturing complex in the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. The project, worth around Rs 7,000 crore, will include 5 GW of solar cell and 5 GW of solar module production capacity.
Planned in two development phases, this large-scale initiative will be among India’s most extensive end-to-end solar manufacturing units, reinforcing the government’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat programs. Once operational, the facility is projected to generate thousands of employment opportunities and enhance India’s renewable energy manufacturing landscape.
The company plans to utilize advanced TOPCon bifacial technology, known for its superior efficiency, durability, and reduced degradation compared to conventional PERC cells. This will enable higher power output even under varied Indian weather conditions.
Commenting on the announcement, Bernhard Rack, CEO of Agastya Energy Industries, said,
“Our Kurnool project represents a pivotal move in strengthening India’s solar manufacturing base. We are building a state-of-the-art, environmentally responsible, and globally competitive facility that redefines standards in performance and sustainability.”
Adding to this, Gaurav Tripathi, Director at Agastya Energy, remarked,
“This investment reaffirms our commitment to India’s renewable energy transition. Apart from manufacturing, it will foster skilled jobs, promote local sourcing, and stimulate new collaborations across the solar value chain.”
Occupying nearly 120 acres, the project is expected to draw in component manufacturers and material suppliers, boosting local industries and positioning Andhra Pradesh as a leading hub for green energy investment and solar innovation.
