APGENCO Floats Tender for Turbines for 950 MW Kamalapadu Pumped Storage Project

The Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGENCO) has invited bids for the design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of turbine-generator equipment for the 950 MW Kamalapadu Pumped Storage Project (PSP) in Ananthapuramu district of Andhra Pradesh.
The scope includes three 238/270 MW and two 118/135 MW vertical Francis reversible pump turbines along with synchronous motor-generator sets. The deadline for bid submission is March 13, 2026, while bid opening is scheduled for April 6, 2026. Bidders are required to furnish an earnest money deposit (EMD) of Rs 999.3 million (approximately $10.99 million).
The estimated contract value stands at Rs 49.96 billion (around $549.45 million). The selected contractor must provide a performance bank guarantee equivalent to 5 percent of the contract value.
As per the tender conditions, the turbine and motor-generator units must be installed within 42 months from the date of contract award. The construction of the powerhouse, including civil and hydro-mechanical works, along with synchronisation and commissioning of the first three units and the 400 kV GIS with pothead yard, must be completed within 38 months. The remaining two units are to be commissioned within four months thereafter, with an interval of no more than two months between unit completions.
Bidders must demonstrate ownership or lease of critical equipment required for execution of the project and ensure that such equipment remains operational and available throughout the contract duration, including any extensions, and for three months after completion and commissioning.
