Central Railway Seeks Bids for 1.3 MW Rooftop Solar Installation
Apr 14, 2026
Central Railway has invited tenders for the development of a 1.3 MW rooftop solar project across buildings and residential quarters at Wardha and Ajni railway stations in Maharashtra. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to expand solar adoption within railway infrastructure.
The deadline for bid submission is May 25, 2026, while the opening of bids is scheduled for June 10. Interested bidders are required to submit an earnest money deposit of Rs 2.6 million along with a bid processing fee of Rs 30,000. The total estimated cost of the project stands at Rs 104 million.
The scope of work includes end-to-end execution, covering design, engineering, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning of the solar systems. Additionally, the selected bidder will be responsible for operation and maintenance of the project for a period of 25 years.
To qualify, bidders must have prior experience in executing solar projects within the last three financial years. This includes commissioning at least one grid-connected solar project or receiving payments for projects equivalent to a minimum of 35% of the proposed capacity. They must also demonstrate financial capability by having received payments amounting to at least 150% of the estimated project cost during the same period.
The project is expected to be completed within nine months from the date of award.
In a related development, REMCL—a joint venture between the Ministry of Railways and Rail India Technical and Economic Service—has also invited bids for rooftop solar installations totaling 1.25 MW across multiple railway stations in Maharashtra, including Mira Road, Neral, Virar, and Palghar.
Separately, Northern Railway recently floated a tender for comprehensive operation and maintenance of 1 MW solar installations at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station and associated infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.
