CESC Secures 600 MW Wind-Solar Hybrid Power Through Long-Term PPAs
Apr 20, 2026
The utility has entered into 25-year agreements with four renewable energy developers to procure hybrid power at competitive tariffs, strengthening its clean energy portfolio.
CESC Limited has signed multiple power purchase agreements (PPAs) to procure 600 MW of electricity from grid-connected wind-solar hybrid projects. The agreements have been executed with four developers for a tenure of 25 years.
The company has partnered with Vismaya Renewables India Project for 100 MW at a tariff of Rs 3.74 per kWh. Additionally, PPAs have been signed with Purvah Green Power and Hexa Climate Solutions for capacities of 300 MW and 100 MW, respectively, both at tariffs of Rs 3.75 per kWh. Another 100 MW agreement has been finalized with Sprng Energy.
These capacities were awarded through a competitive auction conducted in February 2026, following a tender issued in November 2025. Under the agreements, project developers will be responsible for land acquisition, installation, ownership, and securing necessary approvals, including grid connectivity through the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS).
The contracts also specify technical and regulatory requirements. Wind components must use turbine models listed under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (Wind), while solar modules must comply with ALMM List-I, with cells sourced from ALMM List-II.
To ensure consistent performance, the projects are required to maintain a minimum annual Capacity Utilisation Factor (CUF) of 50% throughout the PPA tenure. Developers are also mandated to install and operate GPS-enabled Automatic Weather Stations to support monitoring and performance assessment.
