Feb 09, 2025
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated India’s largest solar cell and module manufacturing unit at the Gangaikondan SIPCOT Industrial Growth Centre. The facility, set up by Tata Power’s solar energy arm, TP Solar Limited, has a production capacity of 4.30 GW and was built with an investment of Rs3,800 crore.
The plant is expected to create over 2,000 jobs, including 1,700 positions for women from Tirunelveli, Palayamkottai, and surrounding areas within a 100-km radius. The initiative boosts India’s solar manufacturing capabilities and supports the country’s push towards renewable energy self-reliance.
