Apr 02, 2026
The Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI), a subsidiary of Coal India, has invited bids for the development of a 25 MW solar power project at the Dugdha Coal Washery in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. The initiative reflects a continued push toward integrating renewable energy within coal-based operations.
The selected bidder will be responsible not only for the project’s development but also for its operation and maintenance over a period of 10 years. The project is expected to be completed within one year from the date of contract award, indicating a relatively fast-track execution timeline.
The estimated project cost stands at approximately Rs 155 crore, and bidders are required to submit an earnest money deposit (EMD) of Rs 50 lakh. The deadline for bid submission is April 29, 2026, with bid opening scheduled for the following day.
To qualify, bidders must demonstrate prior experience in executing similar projects. This includes completing either three projects worth at least 20% of the estimated cost each, two projects worth at least 25?ch, or one project worth at least 40% of the total project value. Additionally, bidders must meet financial eligibility criteria, including an average annual turnover of at least 30% of the project cost over the past three years and a minimum net worth of 10% of the estimated cost.
Preference will be given to domestic suppliers, with Class I suppliers required to have at least 50% local content and Class II suppliers between 20% and 50%. Furthermore, all solar modules and cells used in the project must comply with the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) standards.
The project marks another step toward blending conventional and renewable energy infrastructure, especially within India’s coal sector.
