ENGIE and Apple Seal 15-Year PPA to Power Italian Operations with 173 MW of Renewable Energy

Oct 27, 2025

ENGIE has entered into a 15-year renewable Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Apple, marking a major milestone in advancing Europe’s clean energy transition. Under this partnership, ENGIE will supply Apple with green electricity sourced from 173 MW of new renewable energy projects in southern Italy.

The collaboration encompasses the development of two wind farms (74 MW), one wind repowering project (11 MW), and two agrivoltaic plants (88 MW). All five sites have received regulatory approvals and are expected to become operational between 2026 and 2027. Collectively, these projects are projected to generate more than 400 GWh of renewable power annually.

According to ENGIE, 80% of the total electricity output will be allocated to Apple, while the remaining 20% will feed into the national grid — meeting the annual energy needs of approximately 30,000 households. The initiative will help avoid over 160,000 tonnes of CO? emissions each year, equivalent to the emissions produced by nearly 70,000 conventional vehicles.

“This agreement with Apple underlines ENGIE’s commitment to leading the energy transition by delivering innovative, multi-technology solutions,” said Edouard Neviaski, Executive Vice President of ENGIE’s Global Business Unit for Supply and Energy Management. “Strategic partnerships like this accelerate progress toward a carbon-neutral future while supporting clients in achieving their sustainability goals.”

Globally, ENGIE continues to expand its renewable Power Purchase Agreement portfolio, using long-term green energy contracts to help companies secure stable electricity prices and lower their carbon footprints. In 2024 alone, ENGIE signed 4.3 GW worth of renewable PPAs, strengthening its position as a global leader in sustainable energy solutions.

In Italy, this agreement aligns with ENGIE’s broader renewable and energy storage expansion plan, which targets 1.6 GW of installed capacity by 2030. Currently, the Group operates or is developing a 773 MW portfolio consisting of 18 solar plants (250 MW), 20 wind farms (474 MW), and 4 energy storage systems (49 MW).

The partnership between ENGIE and Apple represents a significant stride toward a decarbonised power sector, demonstrating how corporate collaborations can drive tangible progress in renewable energy deployment and sustainability leadership.
