Enrich Energy Wins 290 MWh Standalone BESS Project from NTPC in Andhra Pradesh

Apr 06, 2026

Enrich Energy has secured a 290 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) project from NTPC, marking its entry into the rapidly growing energy storage segment. The project will be implemented at NTPC’s Simhadri Thermal Power Station in Andhra Pradesh.

The contract was awarded through a competitive bidding process initiated in September 2025, with results recently finalized. This project represents a significant milestone for the Maharashtra-based solar EPC company as it expands beyond its core solar business into integrated energy solutions.

The scope of the project includes complete installation and integration of the BESS with existing thermal power infrastructure. It involves deployment of advanced technologies such as battery units, Battery Management Systems (BMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), SCADA systems, power conversion units, and inverter-duty transformers to ensure efficient operation and grid stability.

In addition to core systems, the project also covers 33 kV pooling switchgear, protection and communication systems, auxiliary infrastructure, and comprehensive fire safety measures. Remote monitoring capabilities and long-term operations and maintenance (O&M) services are also part of the package, ensuring sustained performance and reliability.

This development signals Enrich Energy’s strategic shift toward energy storage and hybrid solutions, including solar-plus-storage and behind-the-meter applications. As renewable energy adoption increases, such storage projects are expected to play a critical role in balancing supply, enhancing grid stability, and supporting India’s broader clean energy transition.
