GAIL Invites Bids for Project Consultant for 178 MW Wind Project in Maharashtra
Apr 15, 2026
GAIL India Limited has issued a tender to appoint a project management consultant for the development of a 178.2 MW wind power project in Maharashtra, marking another step in its renewable energy expansion strategy.
The deadline for bid submission is April 23, 2026, with bid opening scheduled for April 24. The selected consultant will be responsible for overseeing project execution, with the contract duration set at 30 months.
To qualify, bidders must have prior experience either as a project management consultant or owner’s engineer, having executed at least one wind power project of 50 MW or more within the past 15 years. Additionally, participants are required to demonstrate a minimum average annual turnover of Rs53.9 million over the last three financial years.
GAIL has been steadily diversifying into renewable energy. In August 2025, it partnered with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited to target around 250 MW of wind capacity. The company aims to integrate such renewable projects with its existing gas-based power operations for improved efficiency.
Beyond wind, GAIL has also shown interest in solar energy. It previously floated an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) tender for a 17.5 MW floating solar project at its Pata facility in Uttar Pradesh.
The company has further strengthened its clean energy focus by expanding its startup investment fund from Rs1 billion to Rs5 billion in 2025, targeting emerging sectors such as energy storage, electric mobility, and digital solutions.
India’s wind sector has seen strong momentum, with 6.3 GW of new capacity added in 2025 an 85% increase year-on-year driven by higher tender activity, improved participation, and competitive tariffs.
