Galaxy Solar to Invest Rs10,080 Crore in Maharashtra for Solar Cell and Energy Storage Manufacturing

Feb 09, 2026

Galaxy Solar has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra to invest Rs 10,080 crore in setting up manufacturing facilities for solar cells and battery energy storage systems (BESS), marking a major addition to the state’s clean energy manufacturing ecosystem.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, underscoring the strategic importance of the investment for both the state and the national renewable energy agenda.

Commenting on the development, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the investment of over Rs 10,000 crore in solar cell and battery storage manufacturing is expected to create substantial employment opportunities while strengthening India’s solar manufacturing and power infrastructure.

According to Galaxy Solar, the proposed investment represents a significant step toward reinforcing Maharashtra’s position as a key renewable energy and manufacturing hub. The company noted that the project is likely to drive industrial growth, foster innovation, and support sustainable development, particularly in the Vidarbha region.

Galaxy Solar added that the partnership aligns with its broader commitment to India’s clean energy transition, supporting large-scale solar and energy storage infrastructure while contributing to a more resilient and energy-secure future.
