Group Surya, a leading clean energy company headquartered in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, has announced a significant investment of Rs 1,000 crore to establish a state-of-the-art solar module and cell manufacturing facility in Sasaram, Bihar.

Key Highlights of the Project:

  • 1.2 GW Solar Manufacturing Plant: The project involves setting up a 1.2 GW solar module and cell manufacturing plant, marking Group Surya's first foray into solar manufacturing in Bihar.
  • Boosting Industrial Growth: The 50-acre facility is expected to transform Sasaram, primarily an agricultural region, into a hub for industrial activity. This development is anticipated to create new jobs and stimulate economic growth in the region.
  • Strategic Location: Sasaram holds special significance for Group Surya's founder, Kamlesh Kumar Singh, as his birthplace. Additionally, the region offers promising potential for industrial development.

Kamlesh Kumar Singh, founder of Group Surya, expressed his vision for the project:

"We aim to change perceptions and demonstrate that Bihar, with its talented and hardworking people, can be a thriving center for high-tech industries. The supportive government and populace create a fertile ground for such ventures. Inspired by Bihar's rich legacy of knowledge and innovation, I aim to contribute to the state's resurgence by establishing this cutting-edge solar cell factory."

Expanding Manufacturing Footprint:

In addition to the Bihar project, Group Surya is further expanding its renewable energy footprint with a new 500 MW solar module factory in Odisha. This project, with an investment of approximately USD 9.8 million, will enhance the company's manufacturing capabilities and cater to the growing demand for solar energy solutions.
