Gujarat Deputy CM Launches KP Green Engineering’s Mega Fabrication and Galvanising Plant at Matar
Dec 23, 2025
Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi has inaugurated KP Green Engineering’s newly developed fabrication and galvanising facility at Matar in Bharuch district, marking a major addition to the state’s industrial and manufacturing ecosystem.
The 45-acre facility houses Asia’s largest galvanising kettle, which was inaugurated by Botswana’s Minister for Minerals and Energy, Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, who attended the event as the chief guest. According to the company, the plant adds an annual production capacity of 2.94 lakh tonnes, significantly strengthening KP Green Engineering’s manufacturing capabilities.
Designed as a high-technology steel fabrication and galvanising unit, the Matar facility highlights Gujarat’s emergence as a global-scale manufacturing hub. With the new plant, KP Green Engineering’s total operational capacity is set to rise from 3,10,500 tonnes per annum to 4,00,500 tonnes per annum once full operations commence by 2026.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi said the commissioning of the facility reflects Gujarat’s industrial prowess and its commitment to sustainable development. He noted that the integration of Asia’s largest galvanising kettle underscores the state’s ability to support advanced manufacturing infrastructure. Sanghavi also praised KP Green Engineering, led by Dr. Faruk Patel, for contributing to economic growth while supporting India’s green energy transition.
Highlighting international collaboration, Sanghavi referred to the recent memorandum of understanding between KP Group and the Government of Botswana, aimed at cooperation in renewable energy generation, energy storage, and transmission infrastructure. He said the partnership demonstrates India’s expanding role in executing large-scale renewable energy projects globally, including the proposed development of up to 5 GW of clean energy capacity.
The Matar plant is expected to play a key role in strengthening power transmission and distribution networks, supporting renewable energy installations through solar and wind mounting structures, enabling railway electrification, and contributing to infrastructure projects such as roads, highways, telecom networks, pre-engineered buildings, and heavy engineering works.
In line with national sustainability goals, the facility is also being integrated with green hydrogen-based processes under the National Green Hydrogen Mission to reduce carbon emissions associated with galvanising and steel treatment operations.
Dr. Faruk G. Patel, Founding Promoter of KP Group, described the Matar facility as a strategic step toward building future-ready industrial infrastructure. He said the plant has been engineered to deliver consistent quality, superior galvanising standards, and long-lasting infrastructure assets for critical sectors. Dr. Patel also emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting national priorities in renewable energy, infrastructure development, and manufacturing, while generating sustainable employment.
He further acknowledged the support of the central and state governments, noting that proactive policies and a business-friendly environment under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel have enabled industrial expansion and long-term growth.
The Matar facility is expected to create between 6,000 and 7,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities. With a renewable energy project pipeline exceeding 6 GW, KP Group continues to contribute toward India’s target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
By supplying high-quality fabricated and galvanised structures to both domestic and international markets, including the United States, KP Green Engineering is reinforcing India’s position as a competitive global manufacturing destination.
