Hindustan Power Wins SECI Contract for 150 MW Solar Plus BESS Project

Nov 27, 2025

Hindustan Power has secured 150 MW of contracted capacity in the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) latest auction for developing a solar project integrated with battery storage. As part of the initiative, the company will set up nearly 300 MWp of solar generation capacity along with 300 MWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

Announced on November 26, 2025, the company confirmed that the bid win marks a significant addition to its clean-energy portfolio. The project aligns with India’s growing focus on flexible, storage-enabled renewable infrastructure.

Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power, highlighted that the company aims to build advanced renewable assets capable of supporting India’s next phase of energy transition. He emphasised that storage-based systems will play a crucial role in the country’s future power ecosystem.

The project is being developed under the ‘SECI–ISTS–XX’ tender, offering flexibility in location and deployment across India. It was awarded through a tariff-based competitive bidding process, followed by an e-Reverse Auction conducted on the ETS portal. This tender specifically targets ISTS-connected solar PV projects integrated with BESS.

Puri noted that the project reinforces Hindustan Power’s long-term commitment to building robust, efficient and future-ready energy infrastructure. He added that integrating solar with storage will enhance grid stability, strengthen peak-time energy management and improve the reliability of clean power supply.

This achievement further boosts the company’s renewable expansion efforts. Hindustan Power is currently working on multiple clean-energy developments across the country, including:

  • A 435 MW solar project in Uttar Pradesh
  • A 100 MW solar plant paired with a 100 MW battery-energy storage system in Assam
  • A 120 MWh battery-storage project in Bihar
  • A newly awarded 100 MW solar project with a 200 MWh storage system from SJVN

By combining solar generation with advanced storage solutions, the company continues to contribute to India’s clean-energy targets, energy security and sustainable development.
