Indian Railways Invites Bids for 1.2 MW Rooftop Solar Projects in Andhra Pradesh

Oct 23, 2025

The Ministry of Railways has issued a tender for the installation of 1.235 MW of rooftop solar projects across A, B, and suburban railway stations in the Guntakal division of Andhra Pradesh. Bids must be submitted by November 10, 2025, and will be opened on the same day.

The tender carries an estimated value of Rs109.83 million (~$1.25 million), and bidders are required to furnish an earnest money deposit (EMD) of Rs699,200 (~$7,966).

Scope of Work
The project includes the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of solar systems, along with annual comprehensive maintenance for five years, including regular cleaning. Selected contractors must supply pure sine wave inverters, remote monitoring systems with SIM-based connectivity for five years, and mounting structures. They are also responsible for providing lightning arrestors, earthing, net metering, controls and protections, cabling, and switchgear.

The tender specifies the use of Mono PERC crystalline solar panels and hot-dip galvanized iron mounting structures. Power conditioning units must include maximum power point trackers (MPPT). Contractors are also responsible for all associated civil works.

The scope further includes the supply of underground aluminum armored XLPE cables (1.1 kV, four-core, 25 mm² to 400 mm²) and copper PVC-insulated flexible cables (1.1 kV, four-core). The project must be completed within nine months from the date of award.

Eligibility Criteria
Bidders must have successfully or substantially completed similar solar or electrical works during the past seven years, meeting at least one of the following criteria:

  • Three similar projects, each costing 30% or more of the tender’s estimated value
  • Two similar projects, each costing 40% or more of the tender’s estimated value
  • One similar project costing 60% or more of the tender’s estimated value

Applicants must also demonstrate a minimum average annual contractual turnover of either V/N or V, whichever is lower, where V represents the tender’s advertised value and N is the number of years allotted for completion.
