Ingka Investments Unveils 210 MWp Solar Project in Rajasthan Under Rs 1,000 Crore Green Plan
Nov 03, 2025
Ingka Investments, the investment arm of the Ingka Group (owner of most IKEA stores worldwide), has launched its first renewable energy project in India — a 210 MWp solar power plant in Bikaner, Rajasthan, as part of its Rs 1,000 crore green investment drive.
Developed in partnership with ib vogt Solar India, the German solar developer, the project is ready for construction and is expected to be operational by December 2026. Once commissioned, it will generate around 380 GWh of clean power annually, supporting IKEA’s retail, logistics, and distribution operations in India.
The project is set to create approximately 450 jobs during construction and 10–15 permanent positions after commissioning.
“This marks a milestone in our renewable journey in India,” said Frederik de Jong, Head of Renewable Energy at Ingka Investments. “It will produce more than enough clean energy to power IKEA’s growing operations nationwide.”
Patrik Antoni, CEO of IKEA India, added that the initiative reinforces IKEA’s goal to run entirely on renewable energy by 2025.
Globally, the Ingka Group has pledged €7.5 billion toward renewable energy and has already invested €4.2 billion across 31 countries in wind and solar projects, aiming for net zero emissions by 2050 under its Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
