Inox Wind Wins Rs 1,600 Crore Repeat Order from NLC India for 200 MW Wind Power Project
Jul 29, 2026
Inox Wind Limited (IWL) has secured a repeat turnkey order worth Rs 1,600 crore from NLC India Limited (NLCIL) for the development of a 200 MW wind power project, further strengthening its position in India's growing wind energy market. The latest contract increases Inox Wind's total executable order book to 4.7 GW, providing the company with strong long-term revenue visibility as renewable energy installations continue to accelerate across the country.
Under the agreement, Inox Wind will undertake the complete execution of the project on a turnkey basis. The scope of work includes the supply of wind turbine generators (WTGs), engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), commissioning, and long-term operations and maintenance (O&M) services after the project becomes operational. The company expects to commission the wind farm within 24 months from the issuance of the Letter of Award (LoA).
The repeat order from NLC India reflects the growing preference among developers and public sector utilities for experienced renewable energy companies capable of delivering integrated project execution. By offering end-to-end services—from manufacturing wind turbines to project construction and lifecycle maintenance—Inox Wind aims to improve execution efficiency, minimise project risks and ensure higher operational performance over the project's lifespan.
NLC India Limited, a Navratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Coal, has been steadily expanding its renewable energy portfolio alongside its conventional power generation business. The company has set ambitious targets to increase its renewable energy capacity through investments in solar, wind and hybrid power projects, supporting the Government of India's clean energy transition while diversifying its generation mix.
With this order, Inox Wind's order book has grown to 4.7 GW, comprising projects from public sector undertakings (PSUs), independent power producers (IPPs), and commercial and industrial (C&I) customers. A diversified customer base helps provide stable business growth while reducing dependence on any single market segment. The company has also been expanding its manufacturing capabilities and execution capacity to meet rising demand for utility-scale wind energy projects across India.
India's wind energy sector is witnessing renewed momentum following the introduction of new central and state government policies promoting hybrid renewable energy projects, round-the-clock renewable power and improved transmission infrastructure. The country currently ranks among the world's leading wind energy markets, with an installed wind power capacity exceeding 50 GW, and plans to add substantial new capacity over the coming years as part of its target to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based installed power capacity by 2030.
Wind energy is expected to play an increasingly important role in India's renewable energy mix, particularly when combined with solar power and battery energy storage systems. Hybrid renewable projects enable better utilisation of transmission infrastructure, improve power availability across different times of the day and reduce variability associated with standalone renewable generation. Consequently, utilities and developers are increasingly investing in integrated renewable energy solutions that combine wind, solar and storage technologies.
The latest contract reinforces Inox Wind's position as one of India's leading wind turbine manufacturers and turnkey project developers. With a robust project pipeline, expanding manufacturing capabilities and long-term service contracts, the company is well positioned to benefit from the country's accelerating investments in renewable energy infrastructure while contributing to India's long-term decarbonisation and energy security objectives.
