Intertek Acquires Mitsui Chemicals’ Solar Testing Facility in Gujarat

Quality assurance services provider Intertek Group has acquired the assets of a solar photovoltaic testing laboratory in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, previously owned by Mitsui Chemicals India. The move strengthens Intertek’s capabilities in the solar testing and certification space within India.

The facility offers comprehensive testing services for solar installations, materials, and components, with accreditation under ISO 17025 standards. It also supports certification requirements under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as well as the IEC conformity assessment system for electrotechnical equipment and components.

With this acquisition, the laboratory is expected to enhance support for solar module manufacturers by improving testing efficiency and helping accelerate access to international markets through standardized and harmonized processes.

The addition of this facility will further expand Intertek’s services in the renewable energy sector, complementing its existing risk-based quality assurance solutions tailored for the solar industry.

André Lacroix, Chief Executive Officer of Intertek, highlighted India’s growing importance as a key market for testing, inspection, certification, and assurance services, particularly in the clean energy segment.
