Jean-Luc Maurange Named CEO of John Cockerill, Effective January 2026

Dec 17, 2025

Jean-Luc Maurange has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the John Cockerill Group, with his tenure set to begin on January 1, 2026. He will succeed Francois Michel, who will step down at the end of December after three years at the helm, as the company continues to strengthen its long-term, multi-sector strategy.

The Board of Directors of John Cockerill announced that Francois Michel will conclude his term as CEO at the end of December 2025 to pursue new professional opportunities. The Board expressed its appreciation for his leadership and contributions during a period of transformation and growth for the Group.

Maurange, who previously served as Chief Executive Officer from 2018 to 2022, brings deep institutional knowledge to the role. He is currently a member of the Group’s Board of Directors as well as the boards of several subsidiaries, including John Cockerill Hydrogen, John Cockerill Defense, and Rely. He was also closely involved in the recent acquisition of Arquus.

According to the Board, Maurange’s familiarity with the organisation and its operations will support continuity in leadership and the smooth execution of strategic priorities. The Group reiterated its commitment to its diversified business model, covering energy, hydrogen, defence, metallurgy, industrial services, and critical infrastructure, even as it operates in a challenging global environment marked by both uncertainty and growth potential.

The Board also reaffirmed its confidence in the existing management team and acknowledged the continued efforts of employees in advancing the Group’s transformation and long-term development.
