JSW Energy Subsidiary Secures 25-Year Power Supply Deal for 400 MW in Karnataka
Dec 15, 2025
JSW Energy (Utkal) Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of JSW Energy, has entered into long-term power purchase agreements with multiple electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs) in Karnataka for the supply of 400 MW of electricity. The supply under these agreements is scheduled to commence from April 1, 2026, and will continue for a period of 25 years.
According to the company, the power will be supplied at a tariff of Rs 5.78 per kWh. Following the signing of these PPAs, JSW Energy’s uncontracted operational capacity has declined to nearly 5 percent from around 8 percent earlier, enhancing revenue certainty and reducing risk across its generation portfolio.
With the addition of this contract, JSW Energy’s total locked-in generation capacity has reached 30.5 GW. This includes 13.3 GW of currently operational capacity, 12.4 GW of projects under construction across both thermal and renewable segments, 150 MW of hydro capacity under acquisition, and a development pipeline of 4.6 GW.
In addition, the company has secured 29.4 GWh of energy storage capacity. This comprises 26.4 GWh from pumped hydro storage projects and 3 GWh from battery energy storage systems.
JSW Energy reiterated its commitment to its long-term growth strategy, which targets 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by FY 2030. The company also reaffirmed that it remains on course to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
