KEC International Brings 1,200 MW Power Pooling Substation Online at Khavda Renewable Energy Park

Feb 10, 2026

KEC International has successfully commissioned a 1,200 MW power pooling substation at Khavda, developed as part of NTPC Renewable Energy’s 4,750 MW Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park in Gujarat.

The newly commissioned facility, referred to as Power Pooling Substation-1 (PSS-1), has been executed to enhance grid connectivity and strengthen power evacuation for large-scale renewable generation at the Khavda site.

Earlier, in June 2025, KEC International had completed and commissioned the 1,550 MW Power Pooling Substation-2 (PSS-2) at the same renewable energy park, along with energisation of the associated 400 kV transmission line. This step was critical in reinforcing the evacuation infrastructure required for integrating renewable power into the national grid.

With both PSS-1 and PSS-2 now operational, the total commissioned pooling capacity at the Khavda Renewable Energy Park has reached 2,750 MW, positioning it among the largest power pooling and evacuation systems developed under a single green energy initiative, the company said.

The substations are designed to aggregate electricity generated at the park and transmit it efficiently to the national grid, supporting reliable and seamless integration of renewable energy at scale.

KEC International added that the successful delivery of these projects highlights its execution capabilities in handling complex transmission and infrastructure assignments, while reinforcing its commitment to supporting India’s energy transition through robust power evacuation and grid-strengthening solutions.
