KP Group Inks Rs 4,000 Crore Agreement with Gujarat to Develop 855 MW Renewable Energy Portfolio
Jan 14, 2026
KP Group has entered into a Rs4,000 crore Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat to develop approximately 855 MW of renewable energy capacity, comprising solar and wind-solar hybrid projects across Saurashtra and the Kutch region.
The MoU was signed on January 12, 2026, during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference – Investment Promotion Activity held at Marwadi University, Rajkot. The agreement was formalised between Hassan Patel, Whole-time Director, KP Group, and Bhakti Shamal, Joint Secretary, Energy and Petrochemicals Department, Government of Gujarat.
Under the agreement, KP Group will implement a diversified renewable energy portfolio exceeding 855 MW. This includes a 200 MW (DC) solar project under the Distributed Renewable Energy Based Power (DREBP) scheme for a captive consumer in Devbhumi Dwarka, involving an investment of Rs800 crore, and a 405 MW solar power project in Bhuj, Kutch, with an estimated outlay of Rs1,200 crore.
The investment plan also covers ISTS-connected wind-solar hybrid projects, comprising a 100 MW project and a 150 MW project under the Central Transmission Utility (CTU) framework at Devbhumi Dwarka, with proposed investments of Rs800 crore and Rs1,200 crore, respectively.
Commenting on the development, Dr. Faruk G. Patel, Chairman and Managing Director, KP Group, said that Vibrant Gujarat represents a long-standing platform of trust and execution. He noted that the company has consistently translated earlier MoUs into on-ground projects and described the latest agreement as another step toward strengthening Gujarat’s position as a green energy hub. He added that KP Group remains committed to sustainable development, clean energy deployment, and local employment generation with continued support from the state government.
The cumulative investment under the MoU is estimated at Rs4,000 crore, with the projects expected to generate over 4,000 employment opportunities. Implementation will take place in a phased manner, subject to statutory approvals and regulatory clearances.
As part of the agreement, the Government of Gujarat will facilitate KP Group in securing necessary permissions, registrations, and approvals from relevant state authorities in line with applicable policies and regulations.
KP Group has been an active participant in the Vibrant Gujarat platform. At the North Gujarat Regional Conference in October 2025, the company signed an MoU worth Rs8,000 crore for hydrogen and electric vehicle fuel stations across the state. Earlier, during the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in January 2024, KP Group committed Rs17,790 crore toward wind, solar, hybrid energy projects, and a green hydrogen facility.
