KPI Green Energy Receives Inter-State Power Trading Licence from CERC
Apr 18, 2026
KPI Green Energy has been granted a Category IV inter-state power trading licence by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, enabling the company to trade electricity across state borders and participate more actively in the national power market.
With this approval, the company can expand beyond region-specific operations and align its power sales strategy with demand trends across different states. The licence strengthens its ability to access a wider customer base and optimize power distribution based on market dynamics.
KPI Green Energy had earlier secured an intra-state trading licence from the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission. The addition of the inter-state licence allows the company to build a broader, pan-India trading presence and enhance its overall market reach.
According to the company, this development will improve flexibility in power sales, support more efficient price discovery, and help unlock greater value from its expanding renewable energy portfolio.
The licence will also enable KPI Green Energy to engage with a diverse set of buyers, including industrial consumers and utilities across multiple states. It can now participate more actively in short-term and exchange-based markets alongside its existing long-term power supply agreements.
By leveraging this capability, the company aims to dynamically allocate electricity based on demand patterns, improving realizations and strengthening its position in India’s evolving power trading landscape.
