Laser Power & Infra Secures INR 836 Crore Utility Contracts from NTPC, KESCo and JDVVNL

Nov 28, 2025

Kolkata-based Laser Power & Infra Ltd. has secured utility projects worth Rs 836 crore from NTPC, Kanpur Electric Supply Company (KESCo), and Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd. (JDVVNL). The contracts fall under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) and include system strengthening, feeder segregation, and loss-reduction initiatives, supported by turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction.

The KESCo project in Uttar Pradesh, valued at Rs 422.11 crore, focuses on system-strengthening activities with extensive use of distribution cables and conductors, followed by erection and commissioning. The NTPC order in Jammu & Kashmir, worth Rs 212.06 crore across Udhampur and Reasi, is aimed at reducing distribution losses through deployment of HT/LT cables, Aerial Bunched cables, and overhead conductors. Meanwhile, the JDVVNL contract in Rajasthan, valued at Rs 202.13 crore, involves feeder segregation and infrastructure enhancement using the company’s in-house manufactured conductors and cabling systems.

Laser Power & Infra operates three manufacturing facilities in West Bengal, with a combined capacity of 73,100 MT as of March 31, 2025. The company has recently filed its draft red herring prospectus for a Rs 1,200 crore IPO, comprising Rs 800 crore in fresh issuance and a Rs 400 crore offer for sale. In FY25, the company reported Rs 2,570 crore in revenue, achieving nearly 40?GR since FY23, along with a profit after tax of Rs 106 crore.

Chairman and Managing Director Deepak Goel highlighted the company’s deep backward integration—from aluminium and alloy wire rods to XLPE and PVC compounds, as well as the drums used for cable packaging—which contributes to greater cost efficiency and supply chain reliability. He added that although the projects are executed on a turnkey basis, the core value lies in the large volumes of cables and conductors supplied from the company’s integrated West Bengal units.
