LGE India Secures 20.8 MWp Solar Power Through Long-Term PPAs to Advance Green Manufacturing
Mar 26, 2026
LGE India has strengthened its sustainability efforts by entering into long-term solar Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Hinduja Renewables Energy and Sunsure Energy, securing a total capacity of 20.8 MWp for its manufacturing facilities in Pune and Greater Noida.
Under the agreements, the company will procure renewable energy over a 25-year period, with a 9.8 MWp installation linked to its Pune plant and an 11 MWp project dedicated to its Greater Noida operations. Together, these projects are expected to generate approximately 3.21 crore units of clean electricity annually, significantly reducing the company’s carbon footprint over their lifetime.
The Pune facility will source a substantial portion of its energy needs through solar power supplied from a plant in Maharashtra, while the Greater Noida unit will benefit from renewable energy generated in Uttar Pradesh. These arrangements are projected to meet a notable share of each plant’s electricity demand, contributing to a broader increase in renewable energy usage across operations.
This initiative marks LGE India’s first captive renewable energy project in the country and aligns with its global sustainability commitments, including its transition toward 100 percent renewable energy under the RE100 framework. By integrating clean power into its manufacturing processes, the company aims to enhance both environmental performance and operational efficiency.
The partnerships also reflect a growing trend of industrial players collaborating with renewable energy providers to accelerate decarbonisation. With these agreements set to commence in the second quarter of 2026, LGE India is taking a significant step toward building a more sustainable and energy-efficient production ecosystem.
