MERC Approves Adani Electricity's Power Procurement Plan

The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) approved Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited’s (AEML-D) plan to procure 1,500 MW of renewable and non-renewable energy. AEML proposed changes to its power purchase agreements (PPA) to address low bidder interest, including shorter tenures and phased renewable energy targets. MERC directed AEML to modify its bid terms, extend existing agreements, and ensure reliable power supply in Mumbai.

AEML initiated competitive bids for medium-term power needs and highlighted sufficient short-term energy availability. MERC approved the changes while emphasizing competitive pricing and system reliability.
