MP Chief Minister Lays Foundation for Jakson’s 6 GW Integrated Solar Manufacturing Project in Ujjain

Nov 18, 2025

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of Jakson Group’s 6 GW fully integrated solar manufacturing complex in the Maksi industrial area of Ujjain. The upcoming facility will house 3 GW of solar cell and 4 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity, with future phases incorporating backward integration into ingot and wafer production.

The ceremony took place at the 113.5-acre project site and was attended by senior officials from the Madhya Pradesh Government. Representing Jakson Group were Sameer Gupta, Chairman, Sundeep Gupta, Vice Chairman, and other members of the leadership team.

Speaking at the event, CM Dr. Mohan Yadav said the project reflects the strength of the state’s investor-friendly policies and its growing role in India’s clean energy transition. He highlighted that the Maksi solar hub will create significant skilled employment opportunities and strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s position as a key manufacturing and logistics center for India’s renewable energy push, supporting the broader vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

Jakson Group Chairman Sameer Gupta described the Bhoomi Poojan as a historic milestone in the company’s 78-year journey. He emphasized that the integrated facility will boost India’s technological self-reliance in solar manufacturing and thanked the Madhya Pradesh Government for its support.

Vice Chairman Sundeep Gupta noted that vertical integration—from ingot to module—is essential for India’s energy independence as it improves cost efficiency, strengthens supply chain resilience, and accelerates innovation. He added that the project aligns with national renewable energy goals and the state’s progressive industrial policies.

With a planned investment exceeding INR 8,000 crore, the project stands as Madhya Pradesh’s largest solar manufacturing initiative. It supports national targets of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030 and reaching Net Zero by 2070.

Phase I will focus on establishing the solar cell and module units, while later phases will expand upstream manufacturing. The project is expected to develop a strong solar manufacturing ecosystem in the region, encouraging local supply chain and ancillary industry growth.

Jakson Group already operates a 150 KLPD grain-based ethanol plant in Balaghat, and this new solar facility further reinforces the company’s commitment to advancing India’s clean energy ambitions and manufacturing capabilities.
