NHPC Floats Tender for 7.8 MW Wind Project in Kerala, Sets April 27 Bid Deadline
Mar 26, 2026
NHPC has invited bids for the development of a 7.8 MW wind power project in the Palakkad district of Kerala, as part of its ongoing efforts to expand its renewable energy portfolio. The selected bidder will be responsible not only for project execution but also for operations and maintenance over a period of five years.
The bidding process will close on April 27, 2026, with technical bids scheduled to be opened two days later on April 29. Interested participants are required to submit an earnest money deposit of Rs 10.1 million, while the successful bidder must provide a performance bank guarantee equivalent to 5 percent of the contract value.
Eligibility criteria mandate that bidders should either be manufacturers of wind turbine generators with a minimum capacity of 750 kW listed under approved government specifications or have prior experience in executing wind power projects of similar scale. Companies may also qualify based on completed projects of defined capacities within the past seven years.
Financial requirements include a minimum average annual turnover threshold and positive net worth across recent financial years, along with adequate working capital to support project execution. Preference will be given to domestic suppliers meeting specified local content criteria, in line with government policies promoting indigenous manufacturing.
The project will involve integrating the generated power into the state grid, with infrastructure developed to step up voltage levels and ensure seamless connectivity to the Kerala State Electricity Board’s transmission network. This initiative reflects NHPC’s continued push toward strengthening renewable energy capacity while encouraging domestic participation in the sector.
