NTPC Brings 13.98 MW Online at Khavda-I Solar Project, Group Capacity Touches 85.6 GW
Dec 31, 2025
NTPC has added 13.98 MW of solar generation capacity at its Khavda-I Solar Photovoltaic Project in Gujarat, further strengthening its renewable energy portfolio and taking the group’s total installed and commercial capacity to 85,637 MW.
The state-owned power major has declared the ninth tranche of the 1,255 MW Khavda-I project as commercially operational. The large-scale solar project is being developed by NTPC Renewable Energy under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II, Tranche-III, through NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC.
With this latest capacity addition, the commercial capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Limited Group has increased to 7,996.30 MW. The group’s overall installed capacity now stands at 8,010.28 MW, reflecting steady progress in expanding its clean energy footprint across India.
Located in the Khavda region of Gujarat—an emerging hub for large-scale renewable energy development—the Khavda-I Solar PV Project is a key component of NTPC’s long-term strategy to diversify its generation mix and support India’s transition toward a low-carbon energy system.
NTPC continues to commission capacity in phases as construction and grid integration advance at the Khavda site, reinforcing its position as the country’s largest power producer and a leading contributor to India’s renewable energy growth.
