NTPC Green Energy Partners with Nxtra Data to Power Data Centres with Renewable Energy
Mar 27, 2026
NTPC Green Energy Limited, the renewable arm of NTPC Limited, has entered into a strategic agreement with Nxtra Data Limited to develop renewable energy projects aimed at supplying round-the-clock (RTC) green power to data centres across India.
The collaboration, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in New Delhi, focuses on enabling Nxtra’s facilities to meet their energy needs through captive renewable power. This move reflects the growing demand for reliable and sustainable energy solutions within India’s rapidly expanding data centre sector.
This partnership is part of NTPC Green Energy’s broader push to scale up clean energy deployment and diversify its renewable portfolio. In recent months, the company has signed multiple agreements across sectors, including collaborations for green hydrogen, ammonia production, and large-scale renewable power supply to industrial and data centre clients.
Notably, NGEL has also been actively exploring joint ventures in solar, wind, hybrid, and energy storage projects, strengthening its position in India’s transition toward cleaner energy systems. These initiatives align with NTPC’s long-term target of achieving 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032.
Backed by enhanced investment flexibility approved by the government, NTPC Green Energy plans to significantly increase capital deployment across its subsidiaries and joint ventures. This will enable faster execution of renewable projects and support India’s broader decarbonisation goals while ensuring reliable, 24/7 clean power supply for emerging high-energy-demand sectors like data centres.
