Nxtra Data Acquires 35% Stake in AMPIN Energy SPV for Captive Solar Project
Oct 31, 2025
Nxtra Data Ltd., a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel, has announced the acquisition of a 35% equity stake in AMPIN Energy C&I Sixteen Pvt. Ltd., a special purpose vehicle (SPV) formed by AMPIN C&I Pvt. Ltd. for the development of a 13.2 MW captive solar power project in Maharashtra.
The acquisition, valued at approximately ?5.19 crore (51.92 lakh shares), will allow Nxtra to meet the Electricity Act, 2003 requirements for captive power consumption while securing a cost-efficient renewable energy supply for its data centre operations across the state.
The solar plant, located at Village Dighol-Islamnpur in Parbhani District, will be connected to a 132 kV substation and supply green power to Nxtra through the intrastate open-access network.
Completion of the transaction is subject to necessary regulatory and statutory approvals, including Grid Connectivity and Open Access permissions. The project is expected to be commissioned by Q4 FY 2025–26.
Nxtra’s investment aligns with Airtel’s broader sustainability roadmap aimed at reducing carbon emissions, enhancing renewable energy usage, and advancing net-zero commitments across its nationwide data centre infrastructure.
