Odisha to Host Global Energy Leaders’ Summit in December
Nov 15, 2025
The Odisha Energy Department has announced that the Global Energy Leaders’ Summit (GELS) 2025 will be held in Puri from December 5–7, under the theme “Powering India: Sufficiency, Balance, Innovation.” The event will focus on reliable power supply, sustainability, and sector-wide innovation.
The summit’s logo was unveiled by Union Minister of State for Power Shripad Yesso Naik and Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, who is leading the initiative. GELS 2025 will bring together Union and State Energy Ministers, policymakers, industry leaders, and global experts to discuss India’s rising energy needs, grid reliability, ecological balance, and advanced technologies such as small modular reactors, green hydrogen, and digital grid security.
Organised in partnership with the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change and IIT Kanpur, the summit aims to move beyond discussion and deliver actionable outcomes, including roadmaps and measurable targets. International delegates from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Bhutan, along with experts like Gareth Walsh and Pierre Noel, are expected to participate.
Minister Naik said the event will support India’s goals of sustainability, cooperative federalism, and achieving Net Zero by 2070, while positioning Odisha as a key driver of innovation-led energy development.
