Patanjali, Mecpower, Diwakar Renewable Win Big in RVUNL’s 500 MW / 2,000 MWh BESS Tender

Nov 26, 2025

Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd. (RVUNL) has concluded its tender for 500 MW/2,000 MWh standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Rajasthan, finalizing an L1 tariff of Rs 2.85 lakh per MW per month.

Six companies secured capacities at the uniform quoted tariff. Patanjali Ayurved emerged as the largest winner, bagging 250 MW/1,000 MWh. The remaining bidders — Ultravibrant Solar Energy, Rama Reflection India, Mecpower Solutions, Bhagwati Lacto Vegetarian Exports, and Diwakar Renewable and Infra (Diwakar Solar) — each won 50 MW/200 MWh.

The tender, issued in August 2025, requires projects to be developed under a Build–Own–Operate (BOO) framework. They also qualify for viability gap funding (VGF) of Rs 18 lakh/MWh, disbursed in three installments.

All projects must be located within Rajasthan and connected to the State Transmission Utility (STU) network. RVUNL will provide land on actual charges if available, or extend support in identifying and acquiring land when developers opt to arrange it themselves.

As per the specifications, the selected BESS developers must build and connect the storage systems to the STU network, including bay construction. RVUNL/RUVITL will control the charging and discharging schedule, with charging done through RVPN/DISCOMs and discharge into the same network on an on-demand basis.
