Patel Engineering Limited (PEL) has been awarded a major infrastructure contract by Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL) for the Renuka Ji Dam Project (Package-1), with a total value of Rs910.08 crore including GST. The company has received the official Letter of Award (LoA), marking the formal start of the project after being declared the lowest bidder earlier.
The project is located in Dadahu village, within the Renuka region of Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district, and is scheduled for completion within 30 months.
As part of the contract, Patel Engineering will construct three large diversion tunnels, each with a diameter of 9.5 meters and lengths ranging between 1.3 km and 1.6 km. The scope of work also includes building inlet and outlet structures, developing around 6 km of approach and access roads, and installing advanced hydro-mechanical systems for efficient water flow management.
In addition, the company will implement detailed instrumentation and monitoring systems to ensure long-term safety, operational efficiency, and structural reliability of the project.
Commenting on the development, Managing Director Kavita Shirvairkar stated that securing the project reflects strong confidence in the company’s ability to execute complex infrastructure works. She added that the project represents an important opportunity to contribute to India’s water security and renewable energy goals, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and timely delivery.
