Polaris Smart Metering Surpasses One Million Smart Meters Under RDSS, Plans Capacity Expansion to 10 Million Units

Company manufactures and deploys over one million smart meters; annual production capacity to rise from 5 million to 10 million units by mid-2026
Polaris Smart Metering has manufactured and deployed over one million smart meters under the Government of India’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). The milestone was marked by the unveiling of the one millionth smart meter at the company’s manufacturing facility in Jaipur, in the presence of government officials and industry stakeholders.
The company’s current manufacturing capacity stands at five million meters annually. Through its Polaris NOVA facility, Polaris is expanding its production capacity from five million to 10 million smart meters per year, with the expansion expected to be completed by mid-2026.
Ajitabh Sharma, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) and Chairman, Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (RVPN), stated at the event that smart metering will play a central role in demand flexibility and grid management amid the growth of renewable energy and planned battery energy storage expansion. He emphasised the importance of data management systems and integrated platforms in strengthening grid visibility and operational efficiency.
Yashraj Khaitan, Founder and CEO of Polaris Smart Metering, said the one-million-meter milestone reflects execution under RDSS and the company’s work with utilities and state governments. Rajeev Sharma, Chairman, Polaris Group, stated that smart metering supports reduction of AT&C losses and integration of renewable energy into the grid.
