POWERGRID Secures Two TBCB Projects Worth Rs754 Crore

Jan 06, 2025

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has received Letters of Intent (LoIs) for two Transmission System projects through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process. These projects, valued at rs754 crore (as per NCT estimations), will play a crucial role in strengthening India's power transmission infrastructure.

Key Project Details:

  1. Augmentation of Transformation Capacity at KPS1 (GIS) and KPS2 (GIS) (Phase-V Part B1 and Part B2 scheme): This project involves augmentation works at under-construction substations in Gujarat.
  2. Augmentation of Transformation Capacity by 3x500 MVA, 765/400 kV and 400/220 kV ICTs at Bidar PS: This project focuses on augmentation works at an under-construction substation in Karnataka.

Both projects are strategically designed to facilitate the seamless evacuation of power generated from renewable energy sources. This aligns with India's ambitious renewable energy targets and supports the country's transition towards a cleaner and greener energy future.

The successful acquisition of these projects through the TBCB process demonstrates POWERGRID's commitment to enhancing India's power transmission network. These projects will not only improve grid reliability and stability but also contribute to the overall growth and development of the country's power sector.
