POWERGRID to Raise INR 3,800 Crore Through Latest Bond Issue

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (POWERGRID) has approved plans to raise Rs 3,800 crore via its 83rd privately placed bond issuance, comprising a base size of Rs 1,000 crore with a greenshoe option of Rs 2,800 crore.
In a regulatory filing, the company confirmed that the “Committee of Directors for Bonds,” in its meeting on November 17, 2025, cleared the proposal to issue unsecured, non-convertible, non-cumulative, redeemable, and taxable POWERGRID Bonds – LXXXIII (83rd) Issue 2025–26 through private placement.
The bond issue will be listed on both the BSE and the NSE once launched. According to the company, the bonds will be redeemed at par in 10 equal annual instalments, with interest paid annually. Being unsecured, the issue will not involve the creation of any charge or security.
The coupon rate and interest payment schedule will be finalised through an electronic bidding process. POWERGRID also noted that the bonds do not carry any additional rights or special privileges for investors and confirmed that there have been no delays exceeding three months in servicing any past obligations.
