Railways Floats Tender for 1.4 MW Rooftop Solar Projects in Andhra Pradesh

Apr 15, 2026

The Ministry of Railways India has invited bids to install 1,445 kW of grid-connected rooftop solar systems across railway stations in the Guntakal Division of South Central Railway, located in Andhra Pradesh.

The tender is valued at approximately Rs98.11 million, with the bid submission deadline set for April 30, 2026. Interested bidders must submit an earnest money deposit of Rs1.96 million as part of the application process.

The project scope includes end-to-end execution—ranging from site survey and design to installation, testing, and commissioning of solar systems with capacities between 20 kW and 200 kW. It also covers operation and maintenance services for a period of five years.

Technical requirements specify the use of crystalline Mono PERC solar modules, pure sine-wave inverters, and a remote monitoring system supported by a SIM card valid for five years. The installations must also include net metering, earthing, lightning protection, control systems, and all associated electrical and civil infrastructure.

The completion timeline for the overall project extends up to 60 months. To qualify, bidders must demonstrate prior experience in executing similar solar projects over the past seven years, along with meeting defined financial and turnover criteria.

This initiative reflects Indian Railways’ continued push toward adopting renewable energy solutions and reducing its carbon footprint through large-scale solar deployment across its network.
