Rays Power Infra Wins 200 MW Round-the-Clock Renewable Energy Contract from Indian Railways

Mar 30, 2026

Rays Power Infra has secured a major 200 MW round-the-clock (RTC) renewable energy project from Railways Energy Management Corporation (REMCL), marking a significant addition to its growing clean energy portfolio. The project is expected to contribute nearly INR 5,000 crore to the company’s order book and is scheduled for commissioning by June 2028.

The project will combine over 700 MW of solar and wind generation capacity, supported by a battery energy storage system (BESS) exceeding 1,000 MWh. This integrated approach will ensure a consistent and reliable supply of green power throughout the day, addressing the intermittency challenges typically associated with renewable energy.

According to the company, the project will utilize solar modules manufactured using cells from its upcoming facility in Madhya Pradesh, being developed under its subsidiary Rays Green Energy. Rays Power Infra also plans to leverage its own solar and wind park assets for the execution of this hybrid project.

The company highlighted that the RTC model not only strengthens power reliability but also opens avenues for emerging applications such as green hydrogen, green ammonia, AI-driven data centres, and other energy-intensive industries. This framework is expected to play a crucial role in supporting India’s transition toward a more sustainable and resilient energy ecosystem.

Ketan Mehta, Managing Director of Rays Power Infra, stated that the achievement reflects the company’s long-term efforts in developing co-located solar and wind hybrid sites across multiple regions. He noted that this strategy has improved cost efficiency and optimized infrastructure usage, enabling the company to deliver highly competitive energy solutions.

Echoing similar sentiments, Vaibhav Roongta, Chief Business Officer, emphasized that the RTC renewable model aligns with India’s vision of establishing a 24x7 green power ecosystem. He added that the project will contribute to grid stability, reduce reliance on conventional energy sources, and support the nation’s decarbonisation goals.

Rays Power Infra currently holds a diversified renewable energy portfolio of approximately 11,665 MWp, spanning solar, wind, and hybrid projects. As of January 2026, the company has commissioned over 2,247 MWp, with additional capacities under contract, development, and advanced planning stages across multiple states in India.
