SARCO Arm Enters Green Ammonia Offtake Understanding with UK-Based AGR

Feb 10, 2026

Saudi Arabian Refineries Company’s (SARCO) clean energy subsidiary has entered into a preliminary agreement with UK renewable energy firm AGR for the future offtake of green ammonia from a planned production facility in Saudi Arabia.

In a stock exchange filing, SARCO said its wholly owned unit, Clean Energy Company, signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding under which AGR has expressed its intention to purchase the entire output of green ammonia from the proposed plant. The facility is planned to be developed at Jazan Industrial City.

The MoU comes into effect from the date of signing and will remain valid for a period of six months, unless both parties agree in writing to extend or amend its terms.

This proposed offtake arrangement builds on SARCO’s earlier announcement in October 2025, when the company disclosed an MoU with UAE-based GO Energy Company to jointly develop a green ammonia production project in the Kingdom.

According to SARCO, the latest agreement underscores its continued focus on expanding clean energy initiatives and aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to scale up low-carbon fuels such as green hydrogen and green ammonia for domestic consumption as well as export markets.
