SECI and NDMC Enter MoU to Install Solar Systems on 244 Municipal Buildings in Delhi
Jan 16, 2026
The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) to undertake the solarisation of approximately 244 municipal buildings located across Delhi.
The MoU was signed by Manas Ranjan Mishra, Deputy General Manager and Head of Department (Solar), SECI, and Er. Deepak Sachdeva, Chief Engineer (Electrical), NDMC. The agreement was exchanged in the presence of Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chairman, NDMC.
SECI stated that the initiative will support India’s clean energy transition by promoting the use of renewable power in public infrastructure. The project is expected to improve energy self-sufficiency, lower carbon emissions in the national capital, and set an example of sustainable urban governance.
In recent months, SECI has entered into several collaborations to advance renewable energy deployment and grid infrastructure development. These include a Statement of Intent with the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) to work on grid strengthening and clean energy integration, as well as an MoU with Indraprastha Power Generation Company (IPGCL) and Pragati Power Corporation (PPCL) to explore solar, energy storage, and emerging clean energy projects.
Earlier initiatives also include an MoU signed in November 2025 with the Ministry of External Affairs to install grid-connected rooftop solar systems on MEA buildings nationwide under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. In October 2025, SECI partnered with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to develop 300 MW of solar-based renewable energy projects across DRDO campuses, with the objective of achieving net-zero, self-reliant facilities by 2027.
Additionally, in August 2025, SECI signed an MoU with the Renewable Energy Agency Puducherry to solarise all government buildings in the Union Territory.
